Srsly, wtf r u people that my relationship with alex & jesse has caused these obnoxious comments? Regardless, just stop. Thank you.
And I already made enough fucking moves... Now it's your turn.
I’ve listened this a bunch of times and it sounds to me like she got this in one take. To me this has to be one of the most complicated songs ever And she almost never does it live
The journey this song had coming back to me is crazy~ As a child, this song always got me in tears, the emotional breadth of so staggeringly profound. Now, as my dad fights cancer and gets close to this point where he’d rather spend time with us than continue chemo, the tears won’t stop. Is there any song that captures a feeling so well? PS, I love how the simplicity of the piano accompaniment makes it easy enough to play by ear, and I just got my first real Piano recently, so in between Chopin and jazz studies, I can’t help but play this beautiful song all day :. )
So bittersweet and perfect. It captures an emotion I never had a name for... but felt a thousand times. 🫴🥀⛅
I've tasted soap before when my mom when to work and left the house then my older sister made my wash my mouth out with soap as a punishment because I snitched to my mom.
The way I interpret this is that she is a single mom with four young kids and has been undergoing chemotherapy. It has gotten to a point where she can't pay for it anymore. Her insurance policy can not cover the costs anymore. She has young kids: Sophie is a teenager, michael is dealing with bullies, Jacqueline is toddler, and barbara is still a baby (cause she has no personality yet, just that she looks like her grandmother). She has no choice but to let the disease take its course, thus when the doctor/limo driver asks where they are headed she says "west". It's so depressing because all her kids need her and she is dying. Maybe it has a message about health care system, how it doesn't help commoners like her.
where did I hear this song for the first time? idk but I'm sure it was around 2012 or so!
Here's your 2nd comment 😊💗
i literally love her
This is version is really good. Where did u take it?
HOLY CRP I WS FRIKKIN JAMMIN TO THIS SONG AND IM IN THE UNUSED ROOM IN MY MOMS OFFICE WITH MY HEADPHONE ON AND THE DOOR WAS OPEN. IM GOING TO DIE OF EMBARRASSMENT
her music is so hard to decipher. which make me a fan
Whhhyyyy?! I Just want the backing track 😭
this is so real. Cancer isnt exactly cured once you get these therapies, the chemo just extends your time. Instead of spending it on her own therapy, she spends it to care for her children. I assume the mother is old anyway. but, its all a "dream"?
I'm at the stage where I'm yearning to get out
I feel like this song is about how you can be the master of your own destiny
I think it's literally about making music 🤷🏻♀️ but make it unique. Applies to everything else as well so your interpretation is not poor
1:35 I'm dying.
I was going to comment "This must be the easiest song to play in piano when I heard 0:43. No, it won't be easy for me. I suck at everything.
💔
🙂❤️✌🏼
This is music
1:37 3:34
just here to remind you that this song exists
@@StatikSoup ok now I’m reminding u
Also? Fuck Cancer
I'm curious, why do people in the comment section keep saying she's a widow?? I'm not judging or anything, just did I miss one of the lyrics? I always imagined the woman as a poor single mother, although that's just my interpretation, but I'm curious as to why so many people automatically thought widow?
isn't widow a single mother?
Such a great song writer. It's been so long since I listened and I'm just catching up...its like Xmas. Feeling so inspired!
Love!!💖
I <3 Her!
I just appreciated after not having listened to Chemo Limo for some time, the lyrics "I knew it was a dream right away I called the limousine - company." Due to the rare and surreal eerily silence of the children she realizes that she must be dreaming, and hence as opposed to using her dreamworldly powers to for example fly, she chooses a just as unlikely scenario, that of taking a limousine ride. Something that is tantamount to being able to afford chemo, as expressed in the lyric "I can afford Chemo like I can afford a limo..., the limo coming without all the side effects and sickness, and finally, the uncertainty of a favorable outcome still. It's also interesting to note that it's her doctor that comes and takes her for a ride.
Was She About To Vomit? It Sounded Gross When She Did That but The Song Is Beautiful
Still my jam
I dance to this song ( its my solo)
A very meaningful song :(
Is she gagging from the soapy water or is the music box running out of battery or what? :P
Probably the soapy water.
That's what i thought but my sister insists otherwise
Nah, she just poisoned herself on the soapy water. That's why she's starting to "feel mortality around her." She's starting to become ill/die.
Okay, thank you. I thought thats what it meant
I thought it was like the noise the ballerina makes in a music box when you don't open it all the way cause she's "Yearning to get out"?
If anyone wants to know, this is a story about a poor widow who has cancer, and gets a hundred dollar bill, (a.k.a. Benjamin Franklin)which is only enough to take care of her kids, not get her chemotherapy. So she doesn't take chemo, and she decides to die if cancer, not chemotherapy. At the end, when the widow is talking about her kids, she wishes that she could be there to help Sophie get smarter. She wants to be there for Michael when he gets hurt. Wishes to be there with her children so that Jacqueline doesn't have to care for them, because she is so grown up. And finally, she wishes that she had a stronger mother and daughter relationship with Barbara. Hope that's enough for you to understand! 😊
very very smart. But I think it's a bit different than that. She only has a dream that she had enough money to both take care of her kids and get treated for cancer, and once she wakes up, she knows that she can't do both. So she spends the money that she does have on a limo ride with her children and tells the doctor that she just wants to die comfortably (I said sir, let's just go west, and he listened obediently). ❤
Actually, I think it's just about getting tired of chemo and accept that death is coming. Not a money issue
Nathália Oliveira its definitely to do with money it's a recurring theme through the song
@@nathaliaoliveira4303 I agree with you. I think she got so sick of chemo. As someone whos had chemo the lines 'This shit is make me tired.' And the panic in the way the line is sung tells me she's definitely talking about chemo. I think 'Crispy Crispy Benjamin Franklin' refers to her lawyer. He spoke with her doctor, her boss, and had a meeting or 'babysat' with all four of her kids. I don't think money is an issue because she says 'You know I plan to retire one day' which makes me think she was probably close to it or at least had a plan and savings set up for it.
Awww
This song is too cute <3
I thought she always said "I slit my hands and start to make waves." when I heard that I thought it was blood and stuff because after she said the soap didn't taste like soap because of the mixture, but now I understand I was completely wrong.
lol same
So beautiful
A young rich widow gets cancer and she's talking about how it affects her children and how she deals with it.
crispy crispy benjamin franklin came over and babysat all four of my kids. obviously.
Okay so her "gagging" sound isn't from drinking soap water. Has anyone very very slowly opened or closed a musicbox with a spinning ballerina? It makes this kinda strange sound because the ballerina can't spin quite yet at full speed. She is trying to get out of the musicbox. When I first heard this song in high school I thought the song was about having to fit within societies terms (Inside the music box) but you yearned to get out and just be yourself. In the middle of the song she decided to try popularity out by putting all her bottle caps afloat and take a taste of the popular life. It felt good so she went ahead and took a gulp but it wasn't quite what she was expecting. Some people mention that it is about suicide and this could be right, many people resort to suicide when they don't feel like they fit in anywhere but I feel like the song is more than that. It is about finding out you don't want to be put into a box because it is unfulfilling to you. When she says mortality surrounds her I think she means that staying inside the musicbox and abiding by societies standards is like being dead inside a coffin. This song is about accepting yourself as you are and letting your own song be heard.
Cambria Tevis jkanyce said: "For me, the "music box" is her brain. "The malots hit the gears are always turning." means that her mind is constantly racing and she's "yearning to get out" of her thoughts. The whole dishes part is about taking pills, and momentarily having peace of mind. It taste like soap because the pills are "cleansing" her mind, but they soon wear off, and she starts to "feel mortality surround her." That's just my interpretation, anyway." I think this is really deep.
This is really good... But at 5:22 It's "Softly, All I want to do is listen to Radio BBC" not "Sophie"
Well.... I didnt know
Let's not speak on authority on things we don't know
4 kids-Sophie, Michael, Jacqueline, and Barbara
Gotcha. Thank ya :)
true dat :)
So perfect! <3 Ty lollipop for posting this video, I love the singer
This is my first time hearing this song and when it got to the part where it sounds like she's gagging, I had my headphones in and nearly dropped my laptop haha. I get scared WAY too easily!!
In one of her songs (Open, I think) She did a really weird sudden eerie elongated gasp and I was about ready to have my SOUL SUCKED OUT IT WAS TERRIFYING.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thanks for making my evening HILARIOUS!!!:))
This is who I am Hello again. I've seen you before on Regina Spektor videos.
Hollowstar Oh, cool! I like getting recognized. Hello to you too!
